There is nothing worse than turning up to your friend’s wedding with a duplicate present, or as bad, something they don’t want. Those days are thankfully long gone with the thanks to the wedding registry concept. A couple will chose various (or just one) department store to register their wedding list. Everyone invited to the wedding will be made aware of the list and can go to the shop in question and browse the list for something within their budget.
Couples are now increasingly adding the honeymoon to the registry. The honeymoon package will be split up into various parts that can be purchased as a present. This can include flights, accommodation, activities such as diving lessons or hand gliding. Some may even have the opportunity just to contribute to spending money – always comes in handy.
Just like a regular gifts registry, the honeymoon gifts will include different costs for different budgets. Maybe this will include a sumptuous 5 course meal for two at an acclaimed restaurant or cocktails on arrival.
The option of the honeymoon registry is great for couples who maybe already have a furnished house and don’t really need the traditional type of gifts. However, they can plan a truly fantastic honeymoon vacation incorporating activities they never thought they would have the chance to experience. Swimming with dolphins, then a ride on a hot air balloon.
The honeymoon should be an unforgettable vacation that will provide happy memories as the years go by. Maybe some would call it a waste to use all your gifts on the honeymoon but many see it as a treasured moment in time with every activity and factor of the holiday being doubly appreciated with it being a gift.
The added bonus of the honeymoon registry is that the couple do not have to use all of their gifts on the actual honeymoon. Some gifts may be used at a later date as a mini-break or just a fun activity to brighten up a weekend. However, it is advisable to be careful of any clauses in the terms and conditions of use as some policies may render the gift null and void if it is out with a time limit.
Always be sure to check full terms and conditions. Some companies have an extremely fair policy where, if the gift has not been used and the time has expired, the money is returned with possibly a small charge deducted. However there are some companies who will not refund at all and allow a shorter time limit for the gift to be used.
Take everything into consideration when choosing your provider for the honeymoon registry as this can have quite an impact on getting the full benefit of your gifts. Who knows you may still be celebrating your honeymoon in years to come.
