Planning For The Wedding Corsages

There are so many aspects of the wedding planning to sort out that often the wedding corsages can be overlooked until the last minute. They may not be the largest part of the flower arrangements to organize but they are still very important in the scheme of things.

Many of the bridal party will be adorning the corsage such as the mother and grandmother of the bride and possibly others within the family. Other wedding staff may also wear a corsage including the guest book attendant and others depending on the venues booked. Attention to detail always comes good on the day and is certainly appreciated in terms of aesthetics.

When deciding on a corsage, it is a good idea to bear in mind the different forms of corsage available and their ease to wear. The most practical would probably be the pin corsage with its simplicity to wear being pinned on to the particular location be it the shoulder area or waist. The clutch corsage is similar except that it is pinned to an accessory such as a bag or purse. Finally the wrist corsage is obviously worn on the wrist and can be tied in place with a ribbon.

Certain species of flower are suitable for different forms of corsage. A standard sized rose is great for the wrist or for a clutch bag but may not be such a great choice for the shoulder/chest area. However, a Lilly would be perfect for the chest area and compliment most dresses but not so practical for the wrist.

Traditionally, it is the groom who acquires the corsages for the females of the bridal party. This may prove to be a problem should he be unaware of certain additional factors such as flower guards. These guards will serve to protect the dress from the pollen emitted from the flower, this is especially important for flowers such as Lilies. Make the groom aware of such instances prior to obtaining the corsages, just in case.

The fragrance of a flower may be an important factor in the selection of a corsage. Flowers such as Gardenias have a beautiful scent which is difficult to resist. Fortunately, they are also lovely to look at and would flatter any gown (not that it may be necessary).

Don’t forget about the after-wedding corsage for the bride. This is not always a necessary feature as many couples these days will remain at the wedding reception until the end. However, there are still those who fly off to their honeymoon that night with the bride changing into a travelling suit. The after-wedding corsage is worn on the collar of the suit as a reminder of the wedding before being whisked off. The color of the travelling suit should be sought before purchasing this corsage. We don’t want any clashing now.

Corsages are truly a unique accessory and no wedding is without one. Choose your corsages to compliment the dress and you will have the perfect outfit.
