Many women (and men) around the world are constantly trying to find effective methods to lose weight. One of the most prominent categories are those trying to lose weight for their wedding. Some maybe trying to lose weight fast as they only have a limited time period and others over a stretch of time, however, the methods for losing weight effectively are the same.
It is easy to fall into the trap of yo-yo dieting, where you lose weight quickly then promptly put the weight back on and more. Following are some tips to help you lose weight for your wedding and keep it off.
1. Exercise
This tip is first on the list as it is absolutely crucial to a successful weight loss plan and in keeping the weight off. This does not mean you have to go to the gym every day or embark on a strenuous weightlifting regime.
No, it is simply incorporating some form of exercise into your daily life such as, a 30 minute brisk walk or substituting the elevators for the stairs. It is important to note that this exercise must be over and above your usual daily activities.
Also, for added benefit, including a more intensive exercise session once or twice per week will increase your weight loss. This can be an hour at the gym, swimming, cycling or a sport you enjoy.
2. Cutting Down On fat.
This does not mean cutting fat out of your diet altogether as fat is an essential macronutrient in the diet. However it does mean cutting down on unnecessary fatty foods such as chips, chocolate, cookies, mayonnaise and fried foods. Substitute these for the lower-fat alternatives and fruit. If you want to lose weight for your wedding and get into that fantastic wedding gown, you will need to do this.
3. Changing Eating Habits.
Ok, this is a biggie, but it is easier than you think. Firstly, remember that you want to lose weight for your wedding & honeymoon and to look fantastic on your special day, keep this in mind for encouragement. Many people who are overweight, have completely forgotten about regular mealtimes and eat whenever they feel like it.
To begin your weight loss. Try to eat a healthy breakfast and don’t be tempted to miss it out then snack. A reasonable lunch to see you through to dinner and a moderate meal at dinnertime. Try not to have a huge meal in the evening. Then a small snack for supper.
If you are prone to snacking through the day, try to eat fruit, cereal bars, yoghurt and other low-fat, high fibre snacks. If you just can’t bear this idea then at least go for the low-fat alternatives for your usual snacks such as oven-baked chips/crisps, fat-free muffins and cookies but try to keep snacking on those to every other day.
4. Fruit &Vegetables.
Fruit & Vegetables deserve a step all to themselves as they are key in weight loss. These types of food help to bulk out a meal and giver a feeling of fullness, preventing you from eating more, higher calorie foods. Vegetables are great as an accompaniment to meat and pastas. Once upon a time, this was an obvious statement but these days vegetables on a dinner plate are becoming harder to find.
Try to get 5 portions of fruit and veg per day, more if you can handle it and use these portions to substitute an unhealthy food in your diet.
5. Drinks.
Always be aware of what you are drinking and the calories they contain. Many drinks contain a high energy content such as fizzy drinks, milkshakes, alcohol, and sports drinks. Go for low-sugar alternatives but try to keep those to a minimum as they provide no nutritional value to the diet.
Fruit juices are great for health, however don’t go overboard with them. They are actually quite high in calories, so if you want to drink them, dilute them with water. Water is a great drink to get into the habit of consuming and helps rid the body of toxins.
If you keep these steps in mind, you should have no problem in achieving weight loss for your wedding and keeping it off afterwards. Be sure to keep meal portions sizes to a minimum but don’t let yourself starve.
Keep your motivation up during this time by putting a note on your fridge saying “I must lose weight for my wedding” or something similar to keep you focused. Cutting down and plenty of exercise should see you meet your weight loss goals and have the wedding you have been dreaming of.
